Stephen Kellogg w/ Casey at City Winery DC

We were thrilled to be with Stephen Kellogg and Casey at one of the coolest venues in DC.  As always, we provided FREE skin cancer screenings with our dermatology partners.  Stephen was incredibly generous - providing a free piece of SK merchandise for everyone that took advantage of the screening opportunity.

See the video below for more highlights of this great night, including SK's high praise for our dermatologists - Dr. Marisa Braun and Dr. Matthew Livingood!

Wow, what a night! The first We Rock Cancer Concert - Pat McGee, Brian Dunne, Griefcat

Wow! What a night.  Thank you so much for being a part of our launch event. I hope you had a fantastic time!  Check out the videos below this post!

On Oct 12 we launched our mission to increase the awareness, prevention and early detection of skin cancer – at concerts! Fifty-two of our guests and musician partners received free skin cancer screenings. Our dermatology partners Dr. Marisa Braun and Dr. Martin Braun from Braun Dermatology found several areas of concern during these screenings. While we know that is not the kind of news that anyone wants to hear, we are so grateful that we identified areas that could be addressed in a timely manner. That is what We Rock Cancer is all about. Finding it…(the earlier the better)…and Beating it!

The music was fantastic-thanks to Pat McGee, Patrick McAloon, Jonathan Bryan Williams, Brian Dunne, Griefcat (and Logan and Juliet). Please continue to follow and support them. And follow us too! We are on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn @werockcancer. Several fantastic video clips of the evening are already available on our social media pages.

So what’s next? We are already planning our next awesome concert event, and you will be the first to know about it. We are also working hard to roll out our mobile screening mission, in which we will take free screenings to at-risk workers who have limited time, or limited access to health care, and who work in high sun exposure occupations. This means we will be providing essential, potentially life-saving screenings to military personnel, construction workers, landscapers, concert parking attendants, lifeguards…and more. We have lots of work to do and are so happy that you are a part of the WRC family.

I hope that you were able to get a glimpse of what we can accomplish as an organization. We CAN have a blast and do good. We CAN stop putting off skin cancer screenings and have an awesome night at the same time. We CAN raise the funds to help take free screenings to others. We are just getting started, and to fully accomplish this mission we need help. We love and appreciate the support you've given so far, and now we are asking for your ideas to grow. If you have ideas for corporate sponsors or gaining support from the organizations you work in or participate with, we would LOVE to hear from you, and we would LOVE to talk to them about joining us. Sustained support is what we need to make our mission most effective.

We are already busy planning our next concert event! You will be the first to know about it and will have early access through these newsletter updates.  More news very soon!
